“I decided I wanted to become a chef when I was about 11, it’s a running joke within the family that my mum is a rubbish cook so that’s what motivated me to study catering at Halesowen College when I left school. Being brought up in Birmingham I have always been surrounded by different cultures and cuisines which I have truly fallen in love with. I feel the city has helped form my cooking style, I love to showcase what cuisines are available in Birmingham.
After leaving college I spent time working in mostly pubs and hotels. In 2014 my career really began when I joined Simpsons Restaurant as a Commis. Being in a Michelin starred kitchen gave me the sense of family and introduced me to a regimented hierarchy that helped me stay focussed, and out of trouble! Hard work and dedication helped me to work my way through the ranks, in 3 years I progressed from a Commis chef to Junior Sous. I am very thankful to have worked alongside Andreas Antona, Luke Tipping and many other successful chefs who have passed through the Simpsons kitchen.
In 2017 I took on the role as Head Chef at The Wilderness, a restaurant by Alex Claridge where the ethos is to cook modern, British food to excite and simply taste delicious. I looked after the day to day cooking and strived to keep the menu as exciting as possible.
In 2019 I won MasterChef The Professionals, I still can’t quite believe it. What’s next for me? We’ll have to wait and see..”
